Sheet A-001 / About / Statement of position

a drawing is only as honest as its worst measurement.

Fieldstone Drafting is one desk in New London, Connecticut, with two monitors, a 24 × 36 plotter we rarely use, and a firm rule about diagonals. We draw what you measured. When your numbers disagree, we say so before the inspector does.

Location / fixed

31 Riverview Avenue Apt 2, New London, CT 06320. No showroom, no walk-ins, no site visits. The office is a table with good light.

Fieldstone began with a pattern. A contractor would text a photo of a sketch on the back of a paint-sample card, the numbers slanting uphill, and ask for a plan the town would accept. The sketch was usually right. The paperwork around it was usually what stalled the job.

So the work became exactly that: take the numbers you already have, check them against each other, and return a clean set in DWG and PDF with layers an engineer can read cold. We work remotely because the measurements are already in your hands. A van trip to your driveway would add a line to the invoice and nothing to the drawing.

Everything is billed per project, by invoice, net 15. The number in the quote is the number on the invoice. We have never found a reason for it to be otherwise.

02 — Standing rules

four rules the drawings are held to

Not values. Rules. Each one has cost us a project at least once.

R-1

diagonals or it didn’t happen

Every room that isn’t obviously square needs both diagonals. If they differ by more than ½″, the room gets flagged and we ask for a re-measure. A house built in 1962 is not square. It is nearly square, and the difference is where permit sets fail.

Check / diagonal delta ≤ ½″
R-2

we do not stamp

We are drafters, not licensed design professionals. If your town wants a sealed set, the first reply says so, before any money changes hands. Many residential jobs in Connecticut do not need one. We tell you which kind you have.

named layers, every time

Existing walls dashed on A-WALL-EXST. New walls solid on A-WALL-NEW. Dimensions on their own layer so your engineer can switch them off without calling us on a Sunday. We answer Sunday anyway.

the kit is small on purpose

Fewer tools means fewer places for a number to change between your tape and the sheet.
